Bond

After my experience in Thailand, one thing that I've realized was language is just a barrier but not a hindrance. The strong bond that we’re able to build with our Thailand Buddies or co-exchange students was the living proof of genuine friendship and connection we built despite our cultural differences, beliefs, and language. Whenever we go, we always create a chance to have fun and enjoy every little moment that we have for each other. In Nong Prajak Park Thailand, we played our national game which was “habulang Taya”. Every time they reach us about the customs and language of Thailand, we also want to exchange it by also teaching them some basic languages in Filipino, how to speak it, and also our traditions and customs. 

With this, we’re able to connect with each other and have full respect for each other's beliefs. The exchange student program gave me an opportunity to learn and love the culture of Thailand. The people were so welcoming and generous. Their hospitality and respect for us were overwhelming. They are good people and they really know how to pay respect to people's uniqueness and differences. I think this may be the reason why I cried after getting separated from this country as soon as our journey as an exchange student ended. I was attached to the people, the community, and the culture itself. Because the Thai people were able to show us the beauty of their country through them.

This made me happy genuinely because I learned the value of culture and respect. That the people itself mirrored their own culture and beliefs. It's the reflection of our character. If we are able to share it genuinely with proper respect and care, people will also see the beauty of our country. I'm happy, because I think we're able to show the beauty of Philippines culture in Thailand and represent the care and love coming from Filipino people. The strong bond within our Thailand friends/buddies were the proof of support and respect that we have for each other despite our differences.
